A few sample questions
From the Real Numbers worksheet. Find the HCF of 42 and 43 using Euclid’s algorithm.
Answer: 1 — 42 and 43 are consecutive numbers, so they share no factor except 1.
From the Quadratic Equations worksheet. Solve x² − 5x + 6 = 0 and give the larger root.
Answer: 3 — (x − 2)(x − 3), roots 2 and 3; the larger is 3.
From the Arithmetic Progressions worksheet. A stadium has 20 seats in row 1 and 4 more in each next row. How many seats are in row 15?
Answer: 76 — a = 20, d = 4; row 15 = 20 + 14×4 = 76.
