From the Fractions worksheet. Write 12/18 in its simplest form.
Answer: 2/3 — divide the top and bottom by their highest common factor, 6.
From the Integers worksheet. A shop made a profit of ₹120 on Monday and a loss of ₹200 on Tuesday. What is the overall result in rupees (a negative number means a loss)?
Answer: −80 — that is, 120 + (−200) = −80, a loss of ₹80.
A quick brain-teaser. A piggy bank has only ₹2 and ₹5 coins. There are 6 coins worth ₹21 in total. How many ₹5 coins are there?
Answer: 3 — three ₹5 coins make ₹15 and three ₹2 coins make ₹6, giving 6 coins worth ₹21.
How to use these worksheets at home
